Guidelines
- Any adult may nominate a book for the KBA Master List. Teachers and Librarians throughout Kentucky are particularly encouraged to participate.
- Nominate as many titles as you want.
- Only those books published during the three years preceding the award year may be nominated.
- All books nominated should be of interest to students in grades K-12.
- The most recent Caldecott, Newbery, and other award winning titles are NOT automatically included on the Master List. Nominate these books if you deem them worthy.
- Titles previously included on a KBA Master List will not be eligible for the current list.
- Because many teachers and librarians use the KBA Master List for acquisition purposes, either provide a copy of the book to the ad hoc Master List committee or provide the following information for each title you nominate:
- Title,
- Author,
- Illustrator,
- Publisher,
- Publication date,
- Price,
- Grade Range, and
- Annotation.
- The Master List committee reviews and considers all nominations.
- All nominations must be received by March 15 of the award year.
The Master List committee attempts to achieve a variety in the list by including books from all the genres--poetry, realistic fiction, information books, fantasy, etc.
