Welcome!
An Annual Award for the Best Book as Chosen by the Students of Kentucky
The Kentucky Bluegrass Award is a student choice program. The KBA promotes and encourages Kentucky students in kindergarten through grade 12 to read a variety of quality literature. All Kentucky public and private schools, as well as public libraries, are welcome to participate in the program.
The votes are in, and the winners of the 2012 Kentucky Bluegrass Awards are:
- K-2: Chalk by Bill Thomson. Marshall Cavendish, 2010
- 3-5: Big Nate: In a Class by Himself by Lincoln Peirce. Harper, 2010
- 6-8: A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz. Dutton, 2010
- 9-12: Room by Emma Donoghue. Little Brown, 2010
The Kentucky Bluegrass Awards Committee would like to thank each school and library that encouraged readers to participate in this year's program. We would also like to thank the publishers who supplied readers' copies for committee members as they compiled the lists of nominees, and lastly, we would like to congratulate the winning authors, Bill Thomson, Lincoln Peirce, Adam Gidwitz, and Emma Donoghue!
The Kentucky Bluegrass Award program is graciously supported by the Kentucky Reading Association and the Kentucky School Media Association.
